More Proof Positive!

Meet Jan Griscom. Born January 1955.

That makes Jan 55 years old.

She looks fantastic. She is a mother of 3, so that makes her uber fantastic.

Jan is more proof positive that you can be fit, toned and stunning when you are over 50!

Here is a partial bio for Jan that you can find on her Facebook page -” Since 1972, I have had the great fortune to serve the fitness industry. I managed health clubs all over the US for 10 years. Then in 1982, I started a personal training company in Dallas, TX. From there I moved to Las Vegas, NV in the late 80′s and began designing gyms for Mirage Resorts. I did the Mirage, Bellagio, Treasure Island, and many more. During my time in Vegas, I trained celebrities, sports stars, and some of the most wealthy and influential people in the US. I joined the NASM as a full time educator and traveled the world with them. IDEA was also a source of teaching experience for me. I sat on the ACE faculty advisory board and served as a judge for the IHRSA fitness director of the year competition. From Vegas, I went to NYC and worked there for nearly 8 years. Now I am in Dallas, TX starting an organization called the National Association of Health and Fitness Professionals.”

There is one thing you should take note of with regards to her bio – it is a lifestyle. To be fit like her, it is not a two week or two month deal. All those magical lose 10 pounds in two weeks plans don’t work. It really is a healthy lifestyle that produces the results that are permanent.

Clearly, Jan has very extensive experience when it comes to health and fitness. I have also asked her to write some guest posts for “Fitness Over 50″. I figure by getting Jan and Christine to write guest posts, the quality of this blog will improve. While I am hooked on getting fitter and staying that way, I am by no means an expert. I just pass on what I experience during my road to fitness and what I find in my searches for a healthier lifestyle. However, Jan and Christine are experts. So it will be interesting to read their posts. I told both of them to surprise me. I have no idea what they are going to write.

I like to post photos of people in our age group that have taken care of themselves. As the title of the post states, these photos prove without a doubt that one can be fit and healthy while being over 50. I am hoping that the more photos I post, the more inspired my readers will be. By the way, yes I will also post pictures of men who have kept in shape.

Watch out for tomorrows post, if you want to look like Jan you don’t want to miss it. I wrote about losing pounds through cardio the other day using the treadmill. Well if you have weak knees, I will cover how you can still get your cardio in using low impact exercises.
